Founded in 1926 in Turin by Giorgio Ambrosini, the Società Italiana Auto Trasformazione Accessori, or SIATA, initially specialized in crafting performance enhancements for FIAT vehicles. These upgrades ranged from dual carburetor manifolds to high compression cylinder heads, overhead valve conversions, superchargers, gearsets, and complete gearboxes.
SIATA’s collaboration with FIAT proved mutually beneficial, as the improved performance of SIATA-enhanced FIATs led to racing success and increased sales, all without direct involvement from FIAT.
One notable creation stemming from this partnership is an Italian roadster built on the Fiat 850 chassis. It features a rear-mounted Fiat 843cc engine mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Production of this model, known as the “Springs,” lasted until 1970, with approximately 3,500 units manufactured. However, only a fraction of those are estimated to exist today.
