It is widely believed to have been crafted by the renowned architect Iktinos, who is credited with creating other notable temples in Sounio, Nemesis in Ramnuda, and Aris in Acharnes.

Standing out with 13 columns in length on each side and six columns in width, the Hephaisteion Temple boasts a structural elegance that has captivated visitors for centuries. The intricate design features a nave divided into three sections: the pronaos, the main nave, and the back building, each contributing to the overall grandeur of the temple.

Construction of the temple is thought to have commenced around 450 BC, making it an architectural marvel of its time and pre-dating even the iconic Parthenon. The attention to detail and the dedication to craftsmanship are evident in every aspect of this sacred site, reflecting the reverence and awe inspired by ancient Greek architecture.
